From Piedmont to Puglia Tastes of Italy’s expertise on Italian wines makes us the perfect partner for private clubs and wine societies planning a trip.

Our clients love our private appointments with wine makers and lunch at the vineyards to enjoy the wines.

FAQ’s

What if there is an emergency?
In the event of an emergency (medical or otherwise) in Italy inform your tour director immediately. The international number for Tastes of Italy is (+44) 20 8874 3490. Out of hours (17:30 – 09:30) please try the mobile (+44) (0)7867 797890 and leave a message for William Goodacre, stating the nature of the emergency and contact details for us to return your call.
How do I stay in touch when I am away?
To call Italy (country code 00 39) from the UK
To call UK (country code 00 44) from Italy: Omit the ‘0’ of the area code. If you bring your mobile please note call charges for ‘roaming’ can be excessive.
What if I need to change money?
Italian banks open 9.00am-2.00pm Monday to Friday. You also have the opportunity to change money at the exchange bureaux in the airport. Alternatively you can use cashpoints in Italy, using bank cards with a valid PIN.
What travel documents do I need?
You will need your passport, your airline tickets or e-ticket, a copy of your travel insurance policy (making a note of the number for medical emergency overseas), credit card(s). If for any reason you might need to drive in Italy, please also bring an international driving licence.
Travel Insurance
It is a condition of booking with us that you have suitable travel insurance in place which covers both your financial investment in your trip, such as the cost of lost luggage or cancelled flights and medical emergencies, including repatriation.
What about safety in the cities?
Please be aware that pick pocketing is possible in crowds. It is recommended that you leave valuables in the safe at your hotel and bring sufficient money for your daily needs. It is recommended you bring a photocopy of your passport to help you in case of loss.
What should I pack?
Sunglasses – hats for those thinning on top – casual, smart clothes for dinner– warm clothes – waterproof and stout shoes for walking – dressing gown if you wish – slippers. Electricity supply is 220V. Remember to bring a standard European adaptor if you are bringing electrical items, such as a mobile phone recharger.
How much walking?
If you suffer limited mobility, please contact us for advice before booking. A coach is used for most excursions but on disembarking the visits to food and wine producers and historic sites will be on foot, averaging approximately 2 hours per visit. Please note that vineyards are agricultural and therefore surfaces are often uneven and may be wet. For vineyards please ensure you have rubber soled shoes with grips.
